Ward was born on the 15th of April 1977 in MonroeLouisiana. Monroe Christian School served as her Christian primary school. Ward was a student at Ouachita high school in the parish for her secondary education. She then moved to River Oaks High School the summer following her junior year. After graduating she briefly attended Northeast Louisiana University. At the age of thirteen, old Ward began modeling, leaving school and moving from Louisiana to New York in order to achieve this. After a few years she decided to try acting. In 1970she first appeared in an uncredited role in the soap opera All My Children and was later scheduled to play in the sluggish NBC premier-time teen-drama Malibu Shores.
